Getting Started Is Simple
To schedule your first appointment, we only require:
Your ICBC claim number
Your date of birth
Your full name as it appears on your claim
Once we have this information, our team will handle the authorization process and contact ICBC on your behalf. We’ll take care of the paperwork so you can focus on your recovery.
If It’s Been More Than 12 Weeks Since Your Accident
If more than 12 weeks have passed since your accident, ICBC requires one additional step before counselling can begin. We will need:
A doctor’s referral confirming that counselling is recommended for accident-related psychological concerns.
Once we have this referral, our team will submit the request for funding directly to ICBC. In most cases, you can begin sessions within about a week of reaching out to us.

What to expect after your initial approval
ICBC typically authorizes an initial block of 12 counselling sessions, which must be completed within the first 12 weeks following your accident.
When those sessions are finished, we will prepare all necessary progress updates and submit a request for additional funding if further treatment is needed.
Am I entitled to Part 7 benefits even if I'm at fault for the accident?
Part 7 benefits are “no fault” benefits, which means that you are entitled to them even if you are at fault for the accident.
What are Part 7 Benefits
Provided for under Part 7 of the British Columbia Insurance (Motor Vehicle) Act, these benefits cover the following:
– Medical and rehabilitation benefits;wage loss benefits;
– Homemaker benefits; and
– Death benefits (including certain funeral expenses and survivor benefits).
How do I apply for Part 7 benefits?
To access Part 7 benefits, you’ll first need to report your accident to ICBC as soon as possible and obtain a claim number. ICBC will usually ask for a short description of what happened and may request that you fill out a CL22 Insurance Claim Application.
If you’re working with a lawyer, they will typically handle most of this process on your behalf.
If you don’t have legal representation, it’s important to know that anything you share with ICBC may be recorded and could potentially be used to limit or deny your Part 7 benefits or affect your personal injury claim. When in doubt, it’s best to seek guidance before providing detailed statements.
Is there any cost to me?
No. For ICBC-approved counselling, there are no user fees or upfront costs. Your sessions are billed directly to ICBC once authorization is granted.
What if my initial sessions run out?
Once your first block of sessions is complete, we will prepare the required reports and apply for additional funding if continued care is clinically appropriate. Our goal is to ensure you receive the support you need for as long as you need it.
